The Garmin GDU 370 is a panel mounted Multi-Function Display, designed for the Light Sport retrofit markets. Leveraging the technology of the Garmin 695, the GDU 370 is a non-certified MFD with extensive features. What separates the Garmin GDU 370 from its portable counterpart is the “building-block” design. This MFD can be expanded in the future, by adding other Garmin components to provide a full functioning Primary Flight Display (PFD) in addition to its MFD capability, either on one single display, two displays, or up to as many as three displays in your panel. When two or three displays are utilized you gain the added redundancy of a reversionary mode in the event one display is disabled. The GDU370 has a large, seven inch portrait display that incorporates Garmin's latest technology to ensure outstanding viewing day or night. The bezel that frames the sunlight readable screen has multiple keys on the bottom and right sides. The soft keys at the bottom of the display control the most commonly used features of the current page, such as turning terrain data on or off. The dedicated keys on the display's right side have specific functions such as nearest, direct to, flight plan, zoom in/out and menu. Also on the display's right side is a rotary knob/joystick, similar to the G1000's joystick, that lets pilots enter airport identifiers, pan the map, or scroll to page and sub-page groups. Unlike the Garmin 695, the GDU 370 is designed for panel mounting, has redundant power inputs, expanded interface capability and front mounted SD card slots. Customers that purchase this MFD now, can easily transform the GDU 370 into a dedicated PFD or PFD/MFD in a single display with the purchase of the Garmin G3X PFD upgrade kit. It’s expected that the additional components and software will be available in the second half of 2009 for the PFD functionality. The PFD kit will include a solid state ADAHRS, Engine Instrument System, Magnetometer, configuration module and temperature probe. With the addition of this kit to one or more GDUs the system will be known as the Garmin G3X.
